A trade organization that advocates on behalf of certain fuel providers has asked our search firm to find a Vice President who will be responsible for regulatory and legislative positions related to environmental policies affecting its industry.

Your responsibilities would include:

  • Communicating - in rule-making comments, pleadings, and other advocacy materials - positions supported by a consensus of the association's members.
  • Lobbying and engaging regulators, other government officials, and stakeholders.
  • Developing a reputation - both within the association and to other stakeholders - as the subject matter expert on relevant environmental issues.

Who are they looking for?

The ideal candidate for this position will be an attorney with a broad array of experience with environmental policies, including significant experience with air emissions regulation at the federal level. The VP will also possess:

  • A JD from an ABA-accredited law school, and membership in good standing with the DC Bar, or eligibility to waive in.
  • Minimum of seven years’ relevant work experience, ideally related to the energy industry.
  • Subject-matter expertise in air quality and greenhouse gas emissions, including methane emissions and construction permitting.
  • Experience related to drafting regulatory filings and/or briefs.

The position is expected to be partially remote once the office reopens.
