Global Issues & Advocacy Advisor

What role you will play in our team

The Global Issues & Advocacy Advisor will provide research, analytical and strategy support for the Issues & Advocacy group, with a particular focus on environmental, energy, innovation and sustainability topics. The Advisor will also support the implementation of public affairs and advocacy strategies across various public policy areas.

What you will do

• 
  Track and analyze global policy trends related to the energy transition, including: international and domestic policy and regulatory activities, energy industry landscape, finance and technology
• Prepare policy summaries, memos, presentations, strategy documents and other materials
• Support the design, planning and execution of public affairs and advocacy activities
• Participate in stakeholder engagement efforts, including with trade associations and think tanks
• Develop and apply subject matter proficiency in key policy areas, including natural gas, carbon markets, trade, carbon capture and sequestration, hydrogen, biofuels and petrochemicals
• Maintain an in-depth situational awareness of external political and economic factors that may impact ExxonMobil’s business activities and advocacy agenda

About you

Skills and Qualifications

• 
  Five to seven years of experience conducting public policy analysis in a corporate, government, consulting, think tank or academic setting; preference for energy and/or economic policy
• Minimum of three years of experience with public affairs campaigns and/or skill areas, such as policy, communications and media, stakeholder engagement and government relations

Preferred Qualifications/ Experience

• 
  Highly self-motivated, with excellent attention to detail and strong organizational and communication (oral and written) skills
• Analytical with the ability to synthesize complex data into easily understood information
• Ability to effectively multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced environment
• Strong interpersonal skills such as communication, relationship building, initiative, adaptable, positive attitude, and team building
• Ability to work effectively as part of a global team as well as with internal business units and departments of ExxonMobil
