CCA’s Youth Services Department is seeking a qualified positive youth development professional to deliver employment services for youth impacted by the justice system.
JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBLITIES:
- Provide Work Readiness programming at CCA’s main location in Downtown Brooklyn or satellite offices in Brownsville, Brooklyn; provide remote workshops for youth as necessary
- Conduct intakes with new participants and document youth’s contact information, employment experience and employment plans
- Facilitate Work Readiness Workshops includes resume writing, interviewing technique and sharing job training and employment opportunities with youth
- Develop Employment Action Plans with youth that outline their steps for achieving employment and complete Skills Passports with youth to measure work readiness and track progress towards employment goals
- Conduct regular outreach to participants to build relationships and ensure continued engagement in programming; outreach to youth placed in HSE, certification and employment to provide ongoing support and coaching
- Enter intake information, workshop attendance, and progress toward milestones in internal QuickBase database and external DOP Connect database
- Conduct outreach to community employment partners to provide workshops, guest speakers and potential job placement for program participants
- Provide referrals to, vocational opportunities and academic programs; chaperone youth to referral opportunity
- Complete weekly reports that detail programming successes, youth progress and planned next steps to support participant goals
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:
- Degree in education, youth development, social work or other related field degree preferred
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in youth program development, implementation and coordination
- Strong knowledge of community-based and employment resources a plus
- Knowledge of and strong interest in juvenile justice issues and positive youth development best practices required
- Strong interpersonal and team building skills
- Experience working with justice involved youth a plus
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus
