Position Summary:

Under the direction of the Executive Director, performs difficult professional accounting work including the examination, analysis, maintenance, reconciliation, and verification of financial records; develops and implements new accounting systems; and performs related duties as required. You will oversee the daily financial operations of the organization, maintain the financial statements and forecasting models, and assist on data analysis and new projects. The Finance Manager will provide key financial and data analytics support to the Executive Director and Board of Directors and your work will provide strategic insights to support existing contracts and bring new contracts to life. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter with well-established financial modeling skills, superb analytical abilities, a firm understanding of accounting and finance concepts, and an ability to work well with all internal parties across the organization.

Finance Manager Finance Manager is responsible for monitoring and maintaining the day-to-day accounting operations of the entire Organization.

1.      Maintain general ledgers to preserve the integrity and accuracy of financial statements such as monthly journal entries, bank reconciliation, and amortization and depreciation schedules. Code and process accounts payable, and monitor cash balances.

2.      Process payroll, cash collections, and be responsible for overhead allocation, for example, semi-monthly payroll, health insurance, and worker’s compensation. Assist in the preparation of monthly draw requests.

3.      Subcontractors Fiscal Review and the preparation of fiscal reports for the Subcontractors

4.      Prepare audit packages and coordinate with auditors in preparing an audited financial statement and tax returns.

5.      Experience working with nonprofit accounting

6.      Other duties as assigned by supervisor and executive leadership.

Ability to:

  1. Analyze fiscal data and draw logical conclusions; define accounting problems and recommend effective solutions; detect possible weaknesses of internal control and standard accounting procedures and recommend revisions.
  2. Verbally communicate accounting procedures and policies to others; use personal computer applications including spreadsheet software; write memos and reports clearly and concisely; organize work and set priorities to meet deadlines; read, understand and apply legal requirements and administrative policies to department managers and subcontractors.

Establish and maintain effective relationships with staff and partners; Initiate and complete work assignments with a minimum of direction; Participate in the FamilySource performance excellence initiative


EDUCATIONAL/LICENSE REQUIREMENTS:

 Possession of a bachelor’s degree in accounting, business administration, or related field and at least 3 years of professional accounting experience. Possession of a valid California Driver's License, proof of insurance and car in a working condition.
