Legislative Representative

CSEA, one of New York State’s largest public employee unions, is seeking resumes for a Legislative Representative in our Albany, New York Headquarters. Reporting to the Legislative Director and working with colleagues across CSEA the position is responsible for maintaining a legislative and regulatory portfolio to advance the interests of CSEA within New York State. Responsibilities include lobbying the Executive Branch and members and staff of the State Assembly and Senate; attending legislative committee meetings; making themselves accessible to the Executive’s office, legislature, as well as staff, for information and research; draft legislative proposals for introduction; cultivate and maintain relationships with key political leaders, state officials and staff; monitor legislation progress and draft memoranda on issues of union significance in a timely manner.

Qualifications: Four year college degree; 3 years governmental and/or political affairs experience; ability to function independently; knowledge and interest in the political process, functions of government and health care; strong written and verbal communication skills; willing and able to travel as needed.
