Organization Overview
State Voices Florida (SVFL) is a state-based collaboration of nonpartisan civic engagement organizations in Florida. SVFL’s nonpartisan mission is to engage historically underrepresented communities in the democratic process. State Voices Florida provides our network with alignment and coordination, data and research capacity, as well as different levels of support to increase the ability of the nonprofit progressive community to create change. This drives our mission to build the sustainable coalition that is going to be needed to tackle the systemic challenges that inhibit historically disenfranchised communities. State Voices Florida is the Florida affiliate of State Voices. State Voices Florida is a fiscally sponsored project of the Tides Center.
Position Summary
State Voices Florida seeks a talented leader with a record of success leading, facilitating, and supporting program work to serve as a State Program Director. This new State Program Director will work directly with our emerging capacity and volunteer-based organizations to build their organizational capacity, cultivate a strong field program that integrates into our statewide plan, and provide support to developing staff members. This State Program Director is sought for a managerial role where they will supervise the entirety of the program department and be dedicated to its overall success. This position will drive issue-based campaigns for the network working with partner organizations to implement. We seek a qualified candidate with strong coalition, facilitation, and interpersonal relationship skills who will work as part of a team in a fast-paced organization. This position reports to the SVFL Executive Director and is a regular, full-time position that is exempt from overtime.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Supervision & Management:
Manage the program staff & consultants required to implement programs on behalf of table partners
Assist the executive director in hiring new staff as needed.
Provide management, mentorship, professional development, and evaluation directly to staff that is program based.
Cultivate a safe, welcoming, fun and learning-focused organizational culture for staff to excel.
Responsible for the training of program staff to meet the needs of the table
Maintain a current knowledge of social and political movements, how they are manifesting in Florida, and what role the table and the network can play.
General
Communicate regularly with network organizations and outside partners to know what is happening in the sector, identify opportunities for collaboration and assist stakeholders in getting the training and tools they need to succeed.
Manage weekly and monthly workgroup calls for partners and/or manage those who do
Build relationships with Florida organizations and help build coalitions in order to achieve progressive victories
Develop and coordinate trainings for table partners, including (but not limited to) non-partisan voter engagement tactics (voter registration, voter education, voter mobilization, advocacy), data tools, tracking and management, and voter contact actions
Provide reports detailing capacity, execution, and gaps in coalition partner field work.
Organization Mission and Vision:
Responsible for implementing SVFL programs that align with the organization’s Mission and Vision
Lead the strategic planning to ensure that SVFL can successfully fulfill its mission in the future
Responsible for the enhancement of SVFL’s image by fostering trust and collaboration in the community
Responsible for communicating effectively with partners and colleagues as well as provide, in a timely and accurate manner, all information necessary for informed decision-making

Education & Experience
The ideal candidate for this position will possess:
College Degree or equivalent experience
3-7 years of experience working on civic engagement campaigns
1-3 years management experience in leading a program
Prior coalition building experience
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
The ideal candidate will possess many, if not all, of the following qualifications:
Knowledge:
Knowledge of state-level policy is a plus.
A strong commitment to racial equity and social justice
Political acumen and a sophisticated intersectional analysis
Demonstrated knowledge of 501(c)(3) nonpartisan voter engagement and advocacy rules
Skills:
Ability to use VAN or other digital tools is a plus
Abilities:
Strong interpersonal communication skills in person, on the phone, and in writing.
Strong communication skills
Experience leading issue-focused workgroups
Relationship-oriented, ability to develop authentic relationships built on trust and accountability
Must reside in FL, or be willing to relocate
Compensation: Compensation is $60,000-$70,000 based on experience.
