Facebook is looking for an experienced Policy Director to join our Product Policy Team. The team’s function is to provide product, engineering, operations, and other teams actionable product policy guidance to advance our goals related to integrity, quality, and public accountability. As a Policy Director, you will manage a global team of policy subject matter experts that support various product teams and cross-product initiatives. You will be responsible for ensuring that the policy guidance offered to your product teams takes into consideration the perspectives of multiple stakeholders, including internal teams focused on Human Rights, Dangerous Organizations, Civic Issues, Organic Content Policy, Privacy Policy, Public Policy, and more. You will also be responsible for guiding policy team efforts to improve transparency (such as the Community Standards Enforcement Report) and use data to communicate our positive impact and hold us accountable. You may also represent the company externally.

The ideal candidate for this role is a self-starter, a good team player, a creative problem solver and a successful people manager who is able to switch easily between detailed work and high-level strategic thinking. They will oversee the efficient allocation of team and individual resources based on policy risk. This candidate will be deeply familiar with internet policy issues, have a meaningful understanding of product development processes, and be able to use this understanding to promote accountability, integrity, and transparency in Facebook's products and services.

You should be passionate about Facebook’s mission, experienced in policy & technology, able to execute projects, and comfortable communicating to a variety of different audiences.

Product Policy Director, Integrity Responsibilities

  • Manage a team of product policy counselors who support product design and launch
  • Lead policy team efforts to improve data transparency
  • Provide guidance to current team members on effective communications and consensus-building
  • Build relationships with cross-functional partners in Product, Engineering, Operations, Marketing, Communications, and Legal
  • Articulate policy risks & opportunities to relevant parties, including management, operations, cross-functional contacts, and external parties
  • Proactively identify gaps or conflicts in existing product strategies and develop scalable solutions

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 12+ years of experience in technology, policy, or related fields
  • Experience counseling clients developing innovative approaches to product experiences
  • Experience managing a team
  • Experience managing cross-functional projects and working collaboratively with cross-functional teams

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced degree in policy, law, marketing, business, communications, technology or related
  • Experience working in a fast-paced environment, thinking and moving quickly, prioritize and juggle many different projects at once, find pragmatic and creative solutions to business issues, provide concise and business-focused advice, and make sound judgments under tight deadlines
  • Strong communication, analytic, and organizational skills, proactive work ethic and strong interpersonal skills
  • Experience with the Internet technology industry
  • Knowledge of Facebook, Inc. products, features, platform, and policies and operations, as well as knowledge of public policy landscape
