About TIMEP’s Internship Program
TIMEP’s Internship Program is dedicated to training the next generation of policy influencers and policy makers by providing students and young professionals with:
- A hands-on learning experience in which they are paired with a staff mentor
- The opportunity to refine a set of skills and knowledge to further their professional goals
- Exposure to TIMEP’s programming and operations.
At the beginning of each internship, each TIMEP intern will work with a staff mentor to jointly identify a set of goals for the internship involving skills, knowledge, and/or experience. By the end of the program, each TIMEP intern will have had the opportunity to:
- Refine their skills, knowledge, and experiences in furtherance of said-goals;
- Engage with like-minded organizations and practitioners; and
- Better understand the role of civil society and nonprofit organizations like TIMEP in the MENA policy space.
Spring 2022 – Programs & Events Internship
For the Spring 2022 internship program, TIMEP is seeking a part-time Programs and Events Intern who is available to work between 15 and 20 hours a week for 8 to 12 weeks. The ideal candidate would be able to start the internship by the middle of February 2022.
The Programs and Events Intern will:
- Assist with the development of TIMEP events by researching potential speakers, contributing to the drafting of event descriptions, and preparing invitations
- Learn how to prepare and execute virtual events through the Zoom platform
- Attend private TIMEP convenings, as well as relevant external events, and draft summaries to share with the team
- Monitor external events relevant to TIMEP’s work and share with the team on a weekly basis
- Conduct research on opportunities for TIMEP and TIMEP experts to participate in external conferences and events
- Assist with developing proposals for external conference/event participation
- Provide support to TIMEP’s Conversation Six podcast by contributing to the development of ideas, helping to drafting scripts, and editing transcripts after Conversation Six recordings
- Have the opportunity to provide support to TIMEP’s Nonresident Fellowship Program.
A monthly internship stipend will be offered, so long as it does not interfere with the student’s respective university requirements for internships. Interns will receive a stipend of $500 per month, which will be prorated for partial months.
Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from an undergraduate program in international affairs, political science, communications, and/or related field of study
- Demonstrated knowledge of issues and developments in the Middle East and North Africa region
- Strong research and writing skills
- Well-organized and attentive to detail
- Able to manage multiples tasks and meet deadlines
- Able to effectively work with and collaborate with multiple team members
- Prior event planning experience a plus

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Spring 2022 internship will be conducted remotely. While we will accept applications from candidates across the United States, the candidate’s schedule must fall within TIMEP’s office hours (between 9:00AM – 5:30PM EST.)
