Autonomous & Connected Vehicles Associate (Midlevel)

Venable LLP’s Autonomous & Connected Vehicles group seeks a midlevel to join the team in the Washington, D.C. office.

The successful candidate has a demonstrated interest in emerging technology areas, including autonomous vehicle technology development and regulation. Regulatory, policy, and counseling experience needed; experience in motor vehicle law, emerging mobility regulation, and electrification policy is a plus, but not required. The qualified candidate has top-notch legal research and writing skills, as well as experience with legislative analysis and drafting in the federal and state contexts. This role will be dedicated to the practice and will have an opportunity to help shape the emerging mobility landscape as part of the premier practice group in the industry. This role is open to candidates from a variety of backgrounds including, but not limited to: law firms, Capitol Hill, and in-house technology firms. Candidates must hold a juris doctorate degree from an accredited law school and be admitted to and in good standing with the D.C. Bar. Please include law school transcripts with submissions.

Our Autonomous & Connected Vehicles team works closely with manufacturers, suppliers, and technology providers to navigate the legal and public policy questions associated with the emerging mobility landscape. Our work includes supporting a leading coalition of companies to advance federal and state policy priorities related to fully automated vehicles, and providing legal counsel in such areas as automobile recalls, vehicle and infrastructure electrification, robotics and advanced manufacturing, and privacy and cybersecurity. Our lawyers engage with the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) and its related agencies, state lawmaking bodies and public officials, as well as the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), state attorneys general, and other relevant agencies.
