Public Policy Manager, Regulation and Platform Security

The Facebook Security Policy team is dedicated to identifying, tracking, and countering adversarial threat actors that seek to use our platforms to mislead users or cause harm. This work includes understanding the risks we face, crafting policies that govern acceptable use of our platforms, working across Facebook to build detection and enforcement regimes to counter threats and keep people safe, and working with partners in government, civil society, and across industry to help drive whole-of-society responses to protect victim communities and tackle security threats.

We are looking for a Lead for Regulation and Platform Security Policy to work directly with our Head of Security Policy, our Cybersecurity Legal team, our Security Engineering team, and our government and industry partners. This role will focus on assessing and advising on security-focused legislative and regulatory proposals and inquiries from around the world, enabling information sharing and collaboration with our partners in industry and civil-society, and partner with our Security Engineering team. This role will also represent Facebook with stakeholders in government, civil society, and industry. They will bridge the technical work of our teams with their human and policy impact, and will have a chance to shape products used by billions of people.

Work with Facebook's Public Policy and Security teams, as well as external stakeholders, to monitor and engage with the global cybersecurity environment for policy issues that interest the company

Monitor, analyze, and engage with legislative and regulatory proposals that are raised around the world

Craft our proactive strategy on security regulation, and coordinate this with our broader proactive regulation strategy to build more credibility and consistency through regulation around the world

Communicate the external environment and strategic developments internally, including to leadership

Understand the internal teams working on cybersecurity projects and how their work fits into the global strategy

Represent Facebook in meetings with technical experts, politicians, policymakers, NGOs and civil society groups

Communicate externally on behalf of Facebook on topics concerning security-focused regulation and legislation

Move quickly to identify and respond to global events and trends

Ability to travel globally when necessary

10+ years of relevant cybersecurity and policy experience

J.D. degree (or foreign equivalent)

Experience in information security at technology companies and/or in government

Demonstrated experience communicating legal requirements for systems design to a technical audience

Understanding of the global cybersecurity standards and regulatory environment

Understanding of current threats and trends in cybersecurity and in cybersecurity legislation

Experience working in a dynamic environment and influence outcomes

Experience operating independently and within ambiguity

Experience representing Facebook externally as well at the executive and senior official level

Undergraduate degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience

Deep background in security technologies, standards, and regulations, to include those related to payments services

Experience in identification, assessment, and disruption of malicious actors

Advanced degree or equivalent experience in information security or cybersecurity

Experience operating in developing nations
