Summary

The Primary Care Collaborative (PCC) seeks a motivated policy/program-communications intern for a 12-week internship beginning immediately to work a weekly schedule of between 20 and 40 hours a week, winter/spring term. The successful applicant will work directly with the policy team as well as the communications team at the PCC. This position is ideal for an MPH, MPP or exceptional undergrad student interested in health policy and public health issues. Some coursework in statistics helpful. 

The Organization

Founded in 2006, the Primary Care Collaborative (PCC) is a not-for-profit multi-stakeholder membership organization dedicated to advancing an effective and efficient health system built on a strong foundation of primary care and the patient-centered medical home. Representing a broad group of public and private organizations, the PCC’s mission is to unify and engage diverse stakeholders in promoting policies and sharing best practices that support growth of high-performing primary care and achieve the “Quadruple Aim”: better care, better health, lower costs, and greater joy for clinicians and staff in delivery of care.

Mission

The Primary Care Collaborative advances comprehensive primary care to improve health and health care for patients and their families by convening and uniting stakeholders around research, care delivery and payment models, and policies.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Monitors primary care-related policy events, hearings, and legislative or regulatory developments; drafts written summaries for PCC team and website.
  • May assist Policy Director with development of correspondence, presentations, and other content for internal and external audiences.
  • Assists with web-based and survey-based research, drafting case studies, report summaries. Assists with proof-reading and editing documents, social media posts.
  • Drafts short blog posts and social media posts and participates in virtual meetings
  • Assists with grant-funded projects requiring ease with Microsoft Office programs, including Excel, SharePoint, PowerPoint, Outlook, Survey Monkey.
  • Manages tasks and projects including managing email lists, meeting agendas, notetaking.
  • Opportunity to work at intersection of data, research, policy, and real-world practice. Gets exposed to real-time trends including impact of COVID-19 on primary care, payment reform and primary care, trends in organization and delivery of primary care, integration with behavioral health, public health, and social services. 


Qualifications

  • Excellent research, analysis, and writing skills required
  • Able to take direction well, and be an engaged and enthusiastic team-player with little supervision
  • Working toward a Bachelor’s, Master’s or professional degree (preferred) in health policy, public health, or other related field
  • Experience working in a non-profit setting and interest in healthcare issues is a plus
  • Experience working with federal programs and grants management a plus
  • Enthusiastic, mission-driven individual excited about elevating primary care
  • Project management and analytical skills with demonstrated ability to set priorities and meet competing deadlines
  • Hands-on experience with website content management systems and other social media a plus


As of this posting, the PCC team has returned to remote work. In-person work is anticipated, if consistent with public guidance and the health and well-being of staff.

Compensation

PCC interns gain valuable work experience in a non-profit setting and will have the opportunity to interact with health professionals, as well as industry and policy leaders in the healthcare transformation field. Position will pay $15.20/hour over a minimum period of 12 weeks. High-performing interns may be considered for an extension of the internship into the summer term.
