Director of Government Affairs


As our Director of Government Affairs, you will:


o   Play an important role leading and supporting our policy and governmental advocacy efforts.


o  As part of a small staff association, your broad contributions will positively impact our members’ success while you develop professionally, work with a great team, and benefit from a healthy work/life balance.


o  Support and potentially lead our advocacy committees and develop committee management skills.


o  Help develop regulatory comments and policy priorities that help our member companies.


o  Support Political Action Committee efforts.


o  Assist in drafting and editing content for newsletters, press releases, and government affairs updates.


o  Work on Industry standards development.


o  Conduct other duties and responsibilities as assigned.


o  This position will represent us before Congress working on both sides of the aisle, and the Executive Branch, such as the Department of the Interior, the Environmental Protection Agency, the Department of Transportation, and the Small Business Administration.

What you will bring



-         A four-year college degree in a related field, such as political science, environmental studies, or engineering. Advanced degree a plus.


-         Capitol Hill and/or Executive Branch experience.


-         Proven track record of working with both sides of the aisle.


-         In-house or trade association experience is a strong plus.


-         Experience with natural gas and oil issues.


-         Four to six years of professional work experience.


-         Strong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.


-         Outstanding customer service skills in dealing with member companies.


-         Solid IT experience, including thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office and virtual meeting platforms.


-         Ability to be a creative problem solver, manage crisis effectively, and maintain a professional attitude while working under pressure.


-         Ability to travel (up to10% to 20% of time) and work an occasional weekend.


-         Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.


-         This position will be based in Washington, DC area. 


-         This position will spend the majority of its time in the office.


-         Strong bipartisan contacts.
