Job Description


The Coordinator will provide assistance to the entire Department staff as needed. He/she will primarily be responsible for providing project, research and administrative support to the Government Affairs team. The secondary responsibility of the Coordinator will be to provide support to the Social Impact team (including the Garden of Dreams Foundation).


What will you do?


For the Government Affairs Team:

  • Assists on specific projects as defined by other members of the GA team
  • Ensures that documents are properly filed physically and digitally
  • Handles legal and other documents in a confidential manner
  • Tracks or assists in tracking relevant legislative agenda items and important issues relating to the Company’s business
  • Reads, reviews, researches and verifies media and other reports related to government affairs issues on a daily basis and timely reports any relevant information to appropriate personnel for action
  • Drafts letters and other documents, such as meeting materials, including presentations, charts, reports, etc.
  • Conducts research as needed and drafts research memoranda
  • Handles a wide variety of miscellaneous situations and tasks, sometimes involving clerical and administrative functions
  • Assists in the management of the department’s legislative calendar
  • Assists in operating MSG’s political action committee (PAC) including vetting of candidates, facilitating donations, raising funds internally, etc.
  • Assists in operating MSG’s independent expenditure committee (superPAC) including polling and preparation of campaign materials such as mailers, digital ads, radio spots, videos, etc.
  • Prepares agendas for internal and external meetings as well as summaries of certain meetings as needed
  • Reviews incoming messages on the Community Relations inbox and directs internally to appropriate staff for response
  • Helps the department to communicate relevant and timely information to internal audiences
  • Builds relevant contacts to maintain professional network
  • Participates in trade associations and professional organizations as assigned
  • Participates in special projects and performs other related services as may be required to support the Company’s businesses and initiatives
  • Updates relevant job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities and reading professional publications

For the Social Impact Team:

  • Assists in operating and maintaining the MSG Cares/Cybergrants system
  • Coordinates or assists in coordinating the logistics for department-sponsored events within the community, including preparing necessary materials, ordering and tracking merchandise, coordinating with internal stakeholders and external participants and logging information in the CRM system
  • Assist children and families at Garden of Dreams events, including attendance at sports and concert events
  • Assist in the implementation of Garden of Dreams’ fundraising activities, grants to community partners and Inspire Scholarships
  • Assist in the preparation and execution of the Garden of Dreams annual Talent Show at Radio City Music Hall
  • Assist Social Impact team and GDF with other activities as needed

What do you need to succeed?


Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Minimum 1-2 years’ work experience
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, with ability to interact with all levels of management
  • Strong research skills
  • Well organized and detail-oriented
  • Ability to work within diverse internal and external groups
  • Ability to maintain highest degree of confidentiality and diplomacy
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Behavior consistent with MSG values
  • Expert with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)

Preferred:

  • Interest in and familiarity with New York City and/or New York state government and political processes

SUPERVISION:


The Coordinator will report to the SVP, Gov’t Affairs & Social Impact.
