Rep. Zoe Lofgren (CA-18) is seeking a Staff Assistant / Press Assistant to join the Washington, D.C. office. This position requires a robust commitment to constituent services, strong written and verbal communications as well as the ability to independently manage time and assignments. Ties to the Bay Area or California and Spanish-language fluency are a huge plus.

 Candidates who can work and write efficiently and well under pressure, have excellent judgement and organizational abilities, pay close attention to details in a fast-paced environment, juggle multiple projects simultaneously, and have a demonstrated interest in media work are ideal for this multi-faceted position. This position would help develop the skills for someone to become a full-time communications staffer on Capitol Hill. The position operates full-time, in-person and includes all standard House employee benefits, including student loan repayment program (if eligible), transit or parking benefits.

 Staff Assistant: Responsibilities include serving as the welcoming and resourceful first contact people have with the office, managing day-to-day operations of the front office – including greeting visitors, answering phones, administering the tour and flag programs, and serving as general administrative help to the office staff.

 Press Assistant: Responsibilities include working with the Communications Director on social media content, outreach emails, press clips, videos, photos, graphics, talking points, and news releases. An ideal candidate will be able to make content suggestions that are relevant and of interest to our constituency, draft materials on deadline, and have a basic understanding of digital and news media. Basic media monitoring and graphic design and/or video editing software (such as Canva, Adobe Premiere, and Adobe Photoshop) proficiency a plus.
