POSITION: NSPN Development Associate                  BRANCH: National Safe Place Network

REPORTS TO: NSPN Director of Operations                STATUS: Full-time, Exempt      

SALARY:  Commensurate with experience    $48,000-$60,000            DATE: January 15, 2023

National Safe Place Network seeks a Development Associate to assist with Grants, Foundations and annual giving to help build and advance the mission of National Safe Place Network in the United States. The ideal candidate is passionate about the cause of Safe Place, and youth and families in crisis. It is someone with strong previous experience and skill in researching, writing, securing, and managing grants from corporations and foundations as well as individual and corporate donors; someone with expertise and understanding on the national scope; someone who is organized and efficient in performing job functions; and brings a record of leadership in managing and executing an effective grants strategy.

This position will accept, demonstrate and model not only the values of National Safe Place but also the YMCA.

KNOW HOW:

The individual is responsible for researching, writing, and assisting with implementing, a grants/foundation and annual campaign strategy to support the mission of the National Safe Place Network. In partnership with the President/CEO, executive leadership team and Board of Directors, this position is responsible for securing at least $300,000 - $400,000 of the annual operations budget of National Safe Place Network.

The individual will be organized and possess a high level of communication skills. Someone who makes sound judgments and is able to transfer learning from one situation to another is a must. An excellent command of spoken and written English is required as well as excellent editing skills. The successful candidate will have a proven track record of working collaboratively with a wide range of internal and external customers and constituents. High level Microsoft Office skills are essential. This position should have the ability of excellent time management skills.

REQUIREMENTS:

·       Commitment to National Safe Place and YMCA mission, vision and philosophy.

·       Bachelor’s degree preferred.

·       Minimum three years’ experience

·       Must present a professional image and possess conflict resolution skills, and demonstrate sound judgment, initiative, versatility, and independent thinking.

·       Strong written and verbal communication skills

·       Highly organized with the ability to work under pressure, handle multiple tasks, work both independently and with a team.

·       Attention to detail and responsiveness are essential.

·       Demonstrated ability to establish and nurture partnerships.

·       Must be able to maintain confidentiality of information

·       Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and other software programs as well as use most office equipment is required.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

·       Responsible for conducting the full range of activities required to successfully assist with executing an annual grant writing strategy for NSPN including research, preparation, writing, editing, and submitting grant and foundation requests.  

·      Perform prospect research on foundations and corporations for possible new funding opportunities.

·       Work with finance as requested to gather information necessary to report to corporate/foundation funders on current grant programs.

       Comply with all grant reporting requirements as determined by each grant and foundation awards.  

·       Serve as the lead for the NSPN Annual Campaign, including attendance at Annual Support Cabinet and leading the staff campaign.

·       Staff the Fund Development Committee of the Board of Directors.

·       Cultivate and provide stewardship to grant and foundation leadership (including foundation staff and board trustees) in conjunction with the CEO and executive leadership. Examples include setting up face to face meetings and onsite tours, providing written updates and reporting, and other appropriate communications.

·       Maintain current grant and foundation records in current database and in paper files, including all grant tracking and reporting.

·       Provide oversight and tracking of all program statistics and data relevant to funded proposals quality assurance, development needs, and grant reporting.  

·       Work with the CEO and the Communication Department to provide input for all written materials for NSPN (including the Annual Report, Newsletter and Brochures).  

·       Assist with other development activities as requested.

·       Perform other job-related duties as required or assigned.

WORK SCHEDULE:

·       Traditional work day with the flexibility to incorporate some evening and weekend development activities, events or meetings as necessary.

·       Occasional travel may be required

·       Ability to be remote employee located outside of the Louisville, KY area
