Governor Kathy Hochul, New York’s 57th and first female Governor is seeking an experienced Deputy Director of Scheduling to join a fast paced and dynamic team in Albany or New York City. Candidates must have at least 3-5 years of scheduling experience for an Elected Official or high-level public official. The ideal candidate is highly organized, flexible, able to anticipate change, and open to taking on new projects and is a team player with exceptional communication skills, meticulous attention to detail and creative problem-solving skills. The Deputy Director of Scheduling is a key member of a core team of professionals responsible for overseeing and coordinating all meetings, public appearances, and local travel for the Governor. This person plays an essential supervisory, management and operational support role in the planning, designing, and executing of best-in-class events that drive top policy initiatives. As a member of the Executive Operations team consisting of scheduling, briefing and advance operations, the Deputy Director of Scheduling is responsible for supporting the Assistant Secretary for Executive Operations in managing and participating in activities in relation to the Governor’s schedule. The Deputy Director of Scheduling will work closely with the Assistant Secretary for Executive Operations and other internal colleagues to ensure excellent execution of events.


Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Work closely with the Assistant Secretary for Executive Operations on all matters pretending to the Governors official schedule.


  • Communicate with members of Executive Chamber and various bureaus and departments to ensure all meetings and events are effectively planned and managed.


  • Coordinate with all relevant stakeholders, including event contacts, program staff and advance staff on Governor’s role, event program, and method of transportation.


  • Liaising with the Governors Protective Service Unit (PSU) to ensure coordination in travel and schedules.


  • Responsible for screening internal and external incoming scheduling requests for events and appearances.


  • As needed, create, and distribute the Governor’s daily schedule, and monitor for changes, as necessary.


  • Direct the flow of written requests for opinions.


  • Send written responses received invitations received.


The position requires routine travel to Albany for those located in New York City.


 Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree and 3-5 years of relevant experience required.
  • Previous experience managing the schedule for an elected official is ideal.
  • Possession of sophisticated and sound judgement.
  • Post graduate degree and managerial experience preferred.
  • Understanding of New York State government, a plus.
  • Should have ability to multitask and be detail oriented and able to communicate effectively.
  • Should have ability to work in a fast-paced environment, and to work well with teams.
  • Non-traditional working hours and availability by phone as needed.
