Facebook is looking for a Privacy Policy Manager with expertise in privacy and public policy issues related to minors, especially technology-related issues, to join our Privacy and Data Policy team and help us build products in the best interests of people under 18. We're seeking a hard working, self-motivated individual, who thrives in fast-paced environments and can seamlessly drive success bringing together the perspectives of experts outside the company and cross-functional teams working on the hardest privacy problems the company is facing. You’ll focus on stakeholder engagement and providing strategic guidance for internal teams to ensure we’re building products that reflect best practices for age-appropriate online experiences for young people. This role is highly collaborative and will involve partnering with policy, communications and other cross-functional partners. You'll also serve as a subject matter expert for Facebook's global policy team on Facebook's youth products and work with our teams to evaluate and respond to external policy developments, and to engage with external experts on youth privacy around the world. The ideal candidate for this role is a self-starter, a good team player, and creative problem solver that is able to switch easily between detailed work and high-level strategic thinking. This candidate will be deeply familiar with privacy issues for young people online. This candidate will also have a meaningful understanding of stakeholders and perspectives in the youth privacy community, and a desire to build partnerships between Facebook and external privacy stakeholders. Candidates should be accomplished at building and managing relationships as well as strategic thinking. Privacy Policy Manager, Youth Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain strong and trusted relationships with civil society, think tanks, and NGOs on youth privacy policy matters
  • Develop principled guidance and frameworks to inform internal decision making in developing products that impact youth populations
  • Educate the community about youth product launches and announcements, Facebook’s perspective on smart regulation, and how this is reflected in our products and practices
  • Represent Facebook regarding youth privacy issues, including in external meetings and conferences
  • Analyze global legislative and regulatory proposals concerning youth privacy, safety, and other technology issues

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 4+ years of experience with privacy, data security, or technology policy issues (2+ years with advanced degree in similar field)
  • Experience developing and leading stakeholder engagement strategy, including planning and executing multi-stakeholder events

Preferred Qualifications

  • JD or equivalent, MPP, or similar degree
  • Experience with privacy and/or public policy issues related to children and teens
  • Familiarity with legislative frameworks related to privacy and online youth protections
