The Team

The Program Advocacy and Communications team works in partnership with Global Policy and Advocacy teams to achieve policy and finance goals. We lead outcomes and goals by developing and coordinating the execution of strategies, leading a grant portfolio, advocating with sector leaders, influencers, media and government officials.

  • This position is a limited-term position for 18-months.

Your Role

You will develop and implement communications with an emphasis on G&H Research and Development and Infectious Diseases. This role will support our program goals and strategies, as well as leading a discrete grant portfolio and providing support work in support of grant-making and strategy development. You will work within a cross-cutting global health communications team as part of a cluster working to support a portfolio of function and program teams!

This role reports to the Deputy Director, Program Communications, Program Advocacy and Communications.

What You’ll Do

  • Plan, lead, and carry out the implementation of multiple advocacy communications strategies to generate attention, resources, and policy changes.
  • Develop a broad array of evidence-based materials inclusive of messages, fact sheets, press releases, FAQ documents, data visualizations, and other creative writing materials)
  • Support and collaborate with teams in developing and implementing communications strategies.
  • Lead a diverse and inclusive global portfolio of grants and contracts, including reviewing letters of inquiry and grant proposals and crafting written analyses and recommendations for funding.
  • Lead all aspects of agency and consultant support to help implement advocacy, communications and champion building objectives.

Your Experience

  • Advanced degree with experience in communications and advocacy, or equivalent experience
  • Craft the conception, design and management of communications strategies, campaigns and content through persuasive writing.
  • Increase awareness and build political/financial support for goals with governmental and non-state organizations including media.
  • Lead, influence, build and sustain collaborative relationships by presenting publicly, voicing innovative ideas and keeping partners involved in the work, impact, and results.
  • Has worked in the public or non-profit sectors to link communications with advocacy work.
  • Technical area/expertise, with health and pharma R&D communications as highly preferred.
  • Must be able to legally work in the country where this position is located without visa sponsorship.
