The Democratic Governors Association (DGA), the campaign committee responsible for electing and supporting Democratic Governors, is searching for a Deputy Digital Campaign Services Director.

 

As a member within the DGA’s Political Department, this position is responsible for supporting the digital fundraising and digital media programs on the 36 gubernatorial races in the 2022 cycle. An ideal candidate has 1-2 election cycles of digital fundraising and persuasion experience, can bring insights and advice to gubernatorial campaigns, and is committed to electing Democratic governors around the country. Electoral campaign experience is preferred but not required. This position reports to the Digital Campaign Services Director and works with DGA’s Senior Campaign Advisors, state teams, and campaign staff directly.

 

The expected salary range for this position is $70,000-$80,000 annually before benefits and applicable withholdings and dependent on experience.

Primary Responsibilities and duties:

  • Serve as digital point of contact for a selection of gubernatorial races — providing guidance and best practices to campaign managers, consultants and campaign digital directors;
  • Work collaboratively with DGA’s Senior Campaign Advisors to help campaigns improve their digital campaigns comprehensively - including but not limited to advising on email fundraising, email acquisition, SMS, content creation, digital persuasion, tools, and digital staffing;
  • Communicate with campaign digital staff and their digital firms to build excellent digital programs;
  • Gather and distribute digital best practices and update our digital resource guides for campaigns;
  • Oversee and coordinate the roll-out of cybersecurity trainings and services to our campaigns;
  • Collaborate with other Democratic campaign committees and partners in the space to assess, share, and develop digital best practices;
  • Provide digital capacity for campaigns as needed — this could include social copywriting, graphic and video creation, email writing, email production, and more;
  • Manage DGA’s resume bank and screen candidates for digital jobs on campaigns;
  • Develop and regularly update digital campaign data reporting system;
  • Manage other special projects, assignments, and tasks as assigned by the Digital Campaign Services Director.


Preferred qualifications:

  • At least 2+ years of experience working in the digital space on behalf of Democrats or left-leaning organizations;
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, prioritize tasks, and adapt quickly and easily;
  • Thrive in rapid response settings with ability to produce exemplary product under tight deadlines;
  • Ability to build relationships, earn trust, and represent the DGA well when interacting with campaigns;
  • Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach to problem solving;
  • Experience on either side of a consultant-client relationship;
  • Ability to identify gaps in digital fundraising and persuasion reporting;
  • Excellent time and project management skills;
  • Strong writing skills;
  • Keen attention to detail;
  • Must be comfortable with long, irregular hours during peak moments and election seasons.


The DGA offices are based in downtown Washington, DC and we are currently in a hybrid in-person and remote work protocol due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The DGA will work with potential candidates to schedule remote interviews and process on-boarding procedures remotely, if necessary.
