Your Responsibilities

As the Associate Director, Strategic Public Relations for Deere & Company, in Moline, IL, you will help preserve and promote a positive reputation for Deere worldwide and help protect the company from reputation and material risk. In this position, you will:

Implement a proactive public relations strategy to enhance the Company’s reputation in traditional general and business news media and through integration with other communication activities such as social media, brand management, employee communications, public affairs, and investor relations.

Enhance relationships with major financial and business news media; serve as a corporate spokesperson on enterprise topics; and respond to general and business news media inquiries on topics that concern or involve the Company.

Develop strategic communication plans and materials on key enterprise topics, events, issues and actions to ensure effective delivery of the information to news media and other stakeholders.

Identify issues and topics that present reputational risks to the Company and help plan and implement response strategies.

Provide public relations counsel and services to a variety of stakeholders in the Company, including senior leadership, business unit or factory management, and public relations staff throughout the enterprise.

What Skills You Need

8 or more years of experience working in news media as a journalist or serving as a news media contact or spokesperson at a company or organization.

8 or more years of professional writing experience as a journalist, in a corporate position, or in marketing communications.

8 or more years of broad business experience, preferably in publicly-traded companies.

8 or more years of experience developing and implementing business communication strategies and plans.

Ability to travel domestically and/or internationally up to 25%.

What Makes You Stand Out

4 or more years of experience in assessing issues and providing public relations recommendations and counsel to leadership.

4 or more years of managerial experience including leadership, budget management, issue management, motivation and/or team building.

4 or more years PR or communications experience in a large company, preferably one that is publicly-traded.

4 or more years of experience managing the work of an organization’s external agency for public relations or related communications work.

4 or more years of experience integrating communication activities with the work of other departments such as public affairs, investor relations, business development, or others.

4 or more years of experience working on communication or public relations projects for activities of North America.

Education (or equivalent work experience)

Bachelor’s degree in a Communications / Journalism discipline, in a Business / Management / Marketing discipline, or in a Law / Government discipline.
