JOB SUMMARY
As a member of the Global Consumer Public Relations team, the Sr. Manager, Public Relations, Classic Select is responsible for assisting with the development and management of public relations initiatives for the Classic Select brands, as directed by the Sr. Director of PR and brand leadership of the global team.
This position is responsible for a range of public relations initiatives and activations related to the Classic Select brands, including media relations, local property public relations program consulting/counseling, publicity generation, media tours, special event management/activations, public relations activities in conjunction with trade shows (i.e. GM Conference) and hotel grand openings, and writing (e.g., newsletters, speeches/talking points, press releases, fact sheets etc.).
This position will liaison closely with the global and continent brand marketing teams, Content and Buzz Marketing as well as with the teams within Global Corporate Communications including Global Corporate Relations, Internal Communications, Corporate Social Responsibility and Government Affairs, as needed. This position is also in charge of managing multiple PR agencies, as well as managing other associates on specific projects and initiatives, where applicable.
CANDIDATE PROFILE
Education and Experience Preferred
4-year degree from an accredited university in public relations, communications, international studies, social sciences, journalism, marketing, business administration, or related major
6+ years of relevant professional experience in public relations, media, marketing, business administration, or related function, demonstrating progressive career growth and pattern of exceptional performance.
Demonstrated knowledge of the media, established network of media contacts across a spectrum of consumer/travel outlets
Experience with leading PR organization as well as sourcing PR agencies
CORE WORK ACTIVITIES
Implements PR plans, Campaigns and Events
Media Relations:
Conducts targeted media/blogger relations, in conjunction with the PR agency, to trade, consumer travel and lifestyle, as well as national outlets, to generate consumer awareness on behalf of the Classic Select brands.
Executes crisis/reputation management efforts on behalf of brands when necessary and fully coordinate with corporate communication crisis management teams.
Develops various press materials, including press releases, talking points, briefing documents etc., in addition to global brand PR toolkits
PR Management & Execution:
Under the direction of the Sr. Director, activates and implements annual public relations plan, for the Classic Select brands.
Supports development of global PR strategies for the Classic Select brands, according to their goals and objectives.
Represents Classic Select brands when presenting programs and strategies during meetings and other organizational activities to various disciplines and groups throughout the organization, as well as externally.
Manages multiple agency relationships to ensure the success and alignment of all initiatives.
Works cross-functionally with internal disciplines and departments (including Brand, Marketing, Legal, Operations, Development, A&C, F&B, etc.) throughout the organization to enhance, develop and maintain PR programs and strategies.
Creates activation recap reports, talking points and briefing documents for presentation to stakeholders
Provides public relations support and input at major brand meetings (regional and global).
Collaborates with the Global Public Relations team members in developing ongoing internal publicity for brands, and global public relations programs in support of the leisure and business travel segments.
Independently responds to, solves and makes decisions on PR programs and initiatives for the Classic Select brands.
Manages program budgets and scopes for PR initiatives.
Events:
Provides strategic support and tactical execution for various PR activations and events for the Classic Select brands in collaboration with brand marketing/management team members.
Manages brand/region events, such as openings, press conferences, off-property events, and media tours.
Acts as brand representative and spokesperson, when relevant, at internal and external events.
Manages market pull-through on relevant company initiatives and news through cohesive brand messaging.
Increases awareness of brands internally, by creating internal communications, managing internal events, and working with internal stakeholders and their various communication channels.
