Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA) seeks a dynamic and effective Global Advocacy Coordinator who will report to the Senior Director of Global Advocacy. The Global Advocacy Coordinator will support the Global Advocacy Team in the planning and execution of Planned Parenthood Federation of America’s and Planned Parenthood Global’s work to protect access to international reproductive health and foreign assistance funding through advocacy of country and multilateral bodies, including U.S. foreign policy. This person will jump in to support urgent priorities while keeping track of ongoing, long term work. They will also interact diplomatically and enthusiastically with a variety of stakeholders, including colleagues across the organization, coalition partners, supporters, affiliates, and global partners.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Provide general support towards the effective management of the Global Advocacy Team including, but not limited to scheduling large meetings and conference calls, processing expenses, and organizing meeting logistics.

Help develop and manage systems to support team workflow, track progress against goals, support donor reporting and assist in the development of work presentations.

Track legislation, monitor policy debates on international family planning and reproductive health (FP/RH), analyze opposition activities online and at the United Nations, and regularly conduct online research and prepare summaries in support of the development of advocacy materials.

Coordinate the engagement of youth leaders on global advocacy priorities, including overall project management, engaging with coalition partners who prioritize youth engagement and related advocacy, and ongoing coordination with fellows and alumni.

Plan events in conjunction with affiliates and partner organizations.

Draft communications and support outreach to PPFA affiliates, supporters and international partners.

Coordinate with international staff and partners to inform and support advocacy efforts.

Attend external events and meetings, take notes, and develop first drafts of priority documents.

Make routine, relatively low-cost expenditures including, but not limited to travel, office supplies and event costs with prior approval from supervisor or department head.

REQUIREMENTS / TECHNICAL EXPERTISE

Bachelor’s degree required.

2-3 years of directly related, progressively responsible administrative support experience.

Experience in project management preferred.

Strong computer skills including, but not limited to word processing, database, spreadsheet and use of the internet.

Excellent writing, critical thinking, and proactive problem solving skills.

Ability to work as part of a team.

Intermediate understanding of reproductive health issues, legislative process, U.S. global health programs and international family planning field, and ability to apply that knowledge in professional settings.

Strong interpersonal, organizational, communication, and customer service skills.

Ability to build trust and credibility with internal and external partners.

Knowledge of diverse groups, working with a multicultural workforce.

Sensitivity and appreciation to cultural differences is required.
